In April of 1973, SVSR was organized at some location in (most likely) Scottsbluff, NE.
Early in the next year (1974), the first Club function was held, a Rod Run called “Run to the Bluffs.”
The Bluffs Rod Run was held each year thereafter, at least thru 1988 when the 15th year anniversary was celebrated, and the “Cow Chip Nationals,” an outdoor show, was born.
Back in 1977, the indoor show (originally held at the old Torrington Armory) was called “Auto-Expo” and was the Club’s first attempt at an indoor show.
The club has conducted these and similar shows over the years for the enjoyment of all the “gear heads” in the region. You may be familiar with these more recent shows hosted by SVSR:
¨ In 2017 the Great Solar Eclipse Car Show was in Torrington, WY at the Old Covello Car Lot.
¨ The Oregon Trail Days Rod & Custom Show is held each year in Gering, NE on 10th Street.
¨ The Auto Expo indoor show in Mitchell, NE was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to Covid restrictions.
¨ The Classic Car Show & Rod Run has been a yearly event in Torrington, WY located on Main Street and Pioneer Park. This year’s show was exclusively Classic Cars on Main.
